Özgür Aslan, Asst. Prof. Dr.

Dr. Aslan is currently leading the  Aslan Research Group under CSE-Lab. He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering including a minor degree in Physics from METU and received his M.S. from University of StuttgartCOMMAS program. In 2006, he joined Samuel Forest's group at Paris Institute of Technology and received his Ph.D. on Computational Mechanics in 2010. Upon receiving his doctoral degree, Dr. Aslan has been awarded with MIT Postdoctoral Fellowship and joined to Lallit Anand's group at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and later on continued his research at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a research scientist until he joins Atilim University. Dr. Aslan's primary research interests are focused on multiscale materials modeling, mechanics of generalized continua and computational solid mechanics. His research is founded by various national and international institutions including European Commission, Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and Ministry of National Defense.

Elif Uray Aydın, Prof. Dr.

She received the B.S., M.S and Ph.D degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey in 1992, 1996 and 2001, respectively. She was a visiting scholar in the Electromagnetic Communication Laboratory of the Electrical Engineering Department, at Pennsylvania State University from 1999 to 2000. She worked as a research assistant in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at Gazi University between 1993 and 2001. Between the years 2011-2016, She worked as a Chair, and a Professor of EE Department at Atilim University, where she is teaching, leading and supporting state and European Union projects. She has published over 75 papers, 2 books in electromagnetics, antennas, remote lab applications and engineering education.  She is currently working as a Dean of Faculty of Engineering at Atilim University.

Hasan U. Akay, Prof. Dr.

Dr. Hasan U. Akay is currently Provost and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Atilim University in Ankara-Turkey, where he is responsible with research and special educational programs of the University.  Prior to joining Atilim University in 2010, he has been with IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) for thirty years as professor of mechanical engineering, and held administrative positions as department chair and associate dean.  He has over forty years of research and teaching experience in development of computational algorithms for solution of multiphysics problems, including parallel and grid computing algorithms for large-scale problems with broad range of applications in fluid dynamics, solid dynamics, and heat and mass transfer using finite element and finite volume methods.  He has conducted numerous research projects funded by various government and private agencies.  His primary activities in these areas include research, teaching, development, and technical consulting.  He has published over 170 journal and conference papers in these areas.  Dr. Akay holds a B.S. degree from Middle East Technical University at Ankara in 1967; M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Texas at Austin in 1969 and 1974, respectively.  Dr. Akay has received a number of professional honors at IUPUI, including Chancellor’s Professor, Distinguished Mentor, Outstanding Leadership, Outstanding Research Professor, and Teaching Excellence Awards.  He is a Fellow Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Senior Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and Member of the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE).

Farid Saeidi

Was born in Tabriz (Iran) in 1986. Graduated from Mechanical Engineering bachelor program of Azad University-Tabriz branch in 2009. He pursued his graduate studies in Mechanical engineering department of Middle East Technical University (Turkey) and received his master degree in 2013. He worked on numerical simulation and fracture analysis of advanced composites. Currently he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Aerospace Department of Middle East Technical University under supervision of Dr. Aslan and working in CSE-Lab as a research assistant since 2015. His current research is mainly focused on numerical modelling of Thermal Barrier Coatings for turbine blades in gas turbines.

Farid Saeidi

Was born in Turkey in 1987. Received her BSc degree from Mathematics Department of Middle East Technical University. She studied Scientific Computing at the Institute of Applied Mathematics of METU and received her M.Sc. degree having studied on numerical simulations of Lotka-Volterra Equations in Discontinous Galerkin Space. Currently she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Aerospace Department of METU under supervision of Dr. Aslan and working at Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) since 2015. Her current research is mainly focused on the development of abaqus scripts in order to predict the life-time of engineering components under multiaxial creep and fatigue through a post calculation.

Kamil Armağan Gül

Was born in Istanbul in 1984. Graduated from Metallurgical and Material Engineering bachelor program of Istanbul Technical University in 2007. He pursued his graduate studies in Mechanics of Materials in Ecole des Mines de Paris (France), received his master degree in 2009. He completed second master degree in İstanbul Technical University in Material Engineering program in 2010. He worked on numerical simulation of nanoindentation experiments  and plasticity of metallic materials with isotropic plasticity and crystal plasticity. Currently he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering Program of Istanbul Technical University under co-supervision of Dr. Aslan and working in Oyak-Renault Automobile Factories since January 2017. His current research is mainly focused on Development ,Mechanical Behavior Modelling and Simulations of the Al/Mg Based Ligh Alloys for automotive applications.

Was born in Iran in 1991. Received his B.Sc. degree from Mechanical Engineering Department of Tabriz State University. He also pursued his graduate studies in Mech. Eng. Dept. of Middle East Technical University (Turkey) and finished his studies with high honors. He was the member of Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Güler research group in "TOBB University of Economics and Technology" and worked on the Peridynamic theory and Peridynamic analysis of structures. Currently he is pursuing his M.Sc. under the supervision of Dr. Aslan and working in CSE-Lab as a research assistant since 2016. His current research is mainly focused on the finite strain modeling of coupled thermo-mechanical behaviors of shape memory alloys.

Also she graduated from double major program of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department of Atılım University in 2015. She is studying for her MSc in Manufacturing Engineering Department under supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Besim Baranoğlu and working in CSE Laboratory since 2015.

He has graduated from Atılım University, Manufacturing Engineering Department, in 2014. He is now studying MSc in Occupational Health and Safety Department in Çankaya University. His topic is about Occupational Safety in Machining.  He was controller in TÜİK (Turkish Statistical Institute). He joined Besim Baranoğlu’s research group in 2014. He has studied for some projects in CSE-Lab as TÜBİTAK 1001(completed), TÜBİTAK 1505(continuing).

He received his BSc degree from Manufacturing Engineering Department of Atılım University in 2014. Currently he is studying for his MSc in Software Engineering Department of Atılım University. He worked at Atılım University Metal Forming Center of Excellence as a system administrator of High Performance Computing system in 2015. He joined CSE-Lab in 2016 as a research engineer and system administrator of computing system.
